Hello everyone and welcome to the Region 16 affiliate of the Arabian Horse Youth Association. My name is Alayna Mala and I wish to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing me to serve you as the new Region 16 youth director. I am very excited about this opportunity and for being a part of the AHYA.

I am fifteen years old and a member of the Class of 2012 at Haddam-Killingworth High school in Higganum Connecticut. I first began being involved with horses when I was four years old. I currently have my three horses in training with Cathy Vincent of Adandy Farm in Greenwood, Delaware. Most recently, I purchased a new horse making it my third. He is a Half-Arabian Country English Pleasure horse who goes by the name of PF Double O Seven. I also have a Purebred Arabian that is a Country English Pleasure horse. Presently, I serve as the president of the Youth branch of the Arabian Horse Club of Connecticut.

Like many of you, I enjoy the responsibilities and opportunities that being actively involved with horses bring to my life. When others may question why we do what we do for and with our animals, we continue to understand deeply what they do for us as individuals. More importantly, we are able to articulate first-hand as a group of young adults how our involvement with horses has supported our pursuit of our hopes and dreams while, at the same time, continue to make us positive contributing members in our communities, schools and families.

I look forward to working with all of you and to enhance and expand the involvement of as many youth as possible in the work of the Arabian Horse Youth Association. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send me an email at AlaynaM@comcast.net. If you prefer to speak to me directly, you may reach me at

Very truly yours,

Alayna
