THE EASTERN
STATES EXPOSITION HAS ANNOUNCED THAT
ARABIAN AND HALF- ARABIAN CLASSES HAVE BEEN ADDED
TO THE CLASS LIST AT THE BIG E HORSE SHOW.

The Eastern States Exposition has
announced that The Big E Horse Show will offer
Arabian and Half-Arabian classes at the 2010 Big E
Horse Show Sept. 30- Oct. 3. As a recognized Arabian
Horse Association horse show it will be a qualifying
show for the Region 16 Championship Horse Show.
Although a limited schedule of classes is offered in
2010 we are optimistic that the schedule will expand

PRACTICE
RING IMPROVEMENTS BEGUN
AT EASTERN STATES EXPOSITION
|
Eastern States Exposition (ESE),
West Springfield, Mass., has put forth a two-year
plan to reconstruct the two outdoor horse rings
adjacent to C-Barn with work on Phase 1 of the plan
already underway.
Exposition officials enlisted the expertise of J.
Blake Alder of Germantown, Tennessee, who made
sweeping recommendations to upgrade and maintain the
rings. Each will be completely re-built from the
base to the footing, and drainage will be addressed.
Furthermore, an ongoing daily and bi-annual
maintenance plan will be put into place.
Work began April 5 on the 60' by 165' ring between
the Coliseum and C-Barn to be completed in time for
UPHA's Spring Premiere Horse Show later this month.
Phase 2 of the project will entail reconstruction of
the 60' by 190' ring on the north side of C-Barn in
2011.
Wayne McCary, president and CEO of ESE, said, "I am
confident that these improvements will address
previous concerns and enhance the show experience at
Eastern States Exposition. This is a major
undertaking and a significant portion of the capital
improvement budget for our facility."
He added, "We are making an investment in the future
of horse shows and events at our facility."
ESE is the site of the Eastern States Exposition
Horse Show held during The Big E in September and a
number of horse shows and equine events held April
through November.
Eastern States Exposition Horse Show dates are:
Sept. 15-19 - Hunters & Jumpers, Hunt Seat
Equitation, USHJA Zone 1 Finals; Sept. 23-26 - Draft
Horse Show, $30,000 Showdown; Sept. 30-Oct. 3 -
Saddlebreds, Hackneys, Morgans, Friesians &
Arabians, ASHA Regional Championships.
The Big E takes place Sept. 17 - Oct. 3, 2010. For
