Region 16 is please
to announce the winner of the Region 16 Scholarship
for 2007 and to thank all those who applied. It was
a very difficult decision for the committee to pick
just one!
Lora has a very compassionate nature and has
displayed her love of animals by working at the
Nashua Animal Shelter. She has a very deep
commitment and devotion to her family, friends and
to the Arabian horse and thru her passions she has
learned a lot about life at a very early age.
Lora has had some very trying times this year with a
catastrophic family health issues and the loss of 2
of her horses. However, she still managed to
maintain her grades and work responsibilities. “She
has handled this with maturity and grace beyond her
years.” This wonderful trait will certainly carry
her far into the future and will be a basis for her
success all she endeavors.
Her achievements are many, include being on the
honor roll for 4 years. In her senior year she
received an all A’s Recognition Award. She has also
been awarded the Mass. 4-H Key Award and was the
youngest recipient ever to get that award. In May of
2006 she received the Mass Junior Horsemanship Award
at the AHCC show. Her studies have included mainly
extension level courses, college prep curriculum at
Nashua High School and well as honors level Spanish
and Creative Writing and Advanced Math along with
Vet Tech, Accounting, Business Law and Business
Management where she wrote a business plan outlining
her career goal of owning and operating her own
breeding and boarding facility where she plans to
breeding Arabian and Half-Arabian horses. “ I would
like to someday be a Discovery Barn so I can educate
others about the beauty, grace and passion the
Arabian holds.” “With a major in Business management
I feel that I will have the correct fundamentals to
start my own business. With a minor in Equine I will
be able to be precise and careful when it comes to
picking breeding stock and when it comes time to
breed.”
Lora Plans on attending the University of New
Hampshire to help her achieve her goals. We wish her
the best.
