The REGION 16 of
AHA SCHOLARSHIP fund was created to
recognize accomplishment, ambition and
aspiration for a college education by an
individual lacking sufficient financial
resources to accomplish his or her
educational goals and having involvement
with Arabian horses. A $1,000.00 scholarship
is available for one qualified applicant

Shannon, her
husband David Heald and 10 year old
daughter, Katilyn Nickerson live in
Forestville, NY on a small farm. Shannon
currently is attending Jamestown Community
College where she is furthering her
education to become a registered nurse and
will graduate in May of 2006 from that
program. After graduation Shannon plans to
pursue a bachelors degree in nursing. There
are several areas of nursing that interest
Shannon including surgical nursing,
obstetrics, cancer patients and HOSPICE.
Shannon is no stranger to the health care
field. She obtained an associates degree in
Occupational Therapy in 1988 and has been
working as a Certified Occupation Therapy
Assistant for 14 years in various
facilities.
Her involvement with Arabian Horses goes
back 30 years when she first started showing
as a youth at the local and class A Arabian
shows. She has competed in Western, Show
Hack, Halter, Showmanship & Equitation,
Dressage, Sidesaddle as well as in Working
Hunter. In 1984 Shannon was on 2 National
judging teams representing New York State.
She has acquired a Regional Top 5 in Half-
Arabian Hunter Pleasure Jr Horse was Region
18 2004 Reserve Champion Half Arabian Sport
Horse in Hand. Shannon is also currently
enrolled in the USEF Learner Steward
program. |
