2012 REGION
16 HIGH POINT YEAR END AWARDS UPDATE |
This year we had more
participants that ever and look forward to having
even more in 2013.
The awards will be presented at the Empire Arabian
Horse Association Banquet on January 19, 2013, the
Arabian Horse Club of Connecticut Banquet January
27, 2013, and the Arabian Horse Association of
Massachusetts Banquet also on January 27, 2013. If
you are a winner please let Linda know which banquet
you will be attending. Call @ 603-887-4588.
Thanks to all those that participated and we look
forward to seeing that everyone receives their
awards.

CHAMPIONSHIP ENDURANCE RIDE/MAYNESBORO ME MEMORIAL
RIDE |
 Sixty
one riders turned out for the Maynesboro Stud
Memorial Ride organized by Walter Nadeau and the
Berlin-Coos County Historical Society September 15,
2012. The ride was also designated as the Region 16
Endurance Championship. Region 16 AHA, Inc. was a
primary sponsor of the event and awarded the Region
16 Endurance Championship ribbons.

OFFICERS ELECTED |

At the March 2012
meeting of the Region 16 Board of Delegates new
Officers were elected. The new Director is Donald
Schwartz, Vice Director- Walter Misco, Treasurer-
June Barber, Secretary Robert McEntee.

REGION 16 2012 SCHOLARSHIP WINNER ANNOUNCED |
 The
REGION 16 of AHA SCHOLARSHIP fund was created to
recognize accomplishment, ambition and aspiration
for a college education by an individual lacking
sufficient financial resources to accomplish his or
her educational goals and having involvement with
Arabian horses. A $1,000.00 scholarship is available
for one qualified applicant each year. This year we
are pleased to present the scholarship to Ashley
Schmoock. Please see the

CHANGE OF
AHYA OFFICERS |
We have had a change
of responsibilities of the AHYA officers in Region
16. Grace Cusick our AHYA Vice-Director will assume
the office of Director and Amanda Baldwin our
Director will now be our AHYA Vice Director. Grace
and Amanda have worked together in the past and will
continue cooperative efforts in the future. We wish
both the best in their respective offices.

VENUE (Follow-Up) |

This is a follow up to
the decision to locate the 2013 Region 16
Championship Show in West Springfield. I have had
one (1) comment forwarded to me about the change of
venue for 2013 and thought perhaps there was more
discussion that may not have been made directly to

VENUE |
The Region 16 Board of
Delegates after much deliberation and debate at its
March 31, 2012 meeting voted to hold the 2013
Championship Show at the Eastern States Exposition
Grounds in, West Springfield, MA.
The Eastern States Exposition grounds made several
improvements to the grounds that would improve the
show experience for exhibitors and attendees alike.
A new large covered warm up area and a covered
walkway to the coliseum were at the top of the list
of improvements.
The Board will reassess the Syracuse New York State
Fair Grounds facility and grounds after this year’s
Championship Show and make a decision about future
scheduling then.
We hope the improvements and the change of venue
will attract more exhibitors and provide everyone
with a better experience for all.
Please join us in Syracuse this year for the Region
16 Championship Show.

REGION 16 HORSEMEN'S DISTRESS FUND |
|
The Region 16 AHA,
Inc. Horsemen’s Distress Fund was established to
assist members of Region 16 in a time of need.
Insurance coverage does not always pay for the
sometimes overwhelming expenses when someone is
injured or other disasters strike.

In an effort to keep
the membership of Region 16 informed and up-to-date
on Region 16 News, AHA News and General Equine News
of interest, we started a REGION 16 NEWS FLASH
E-MAIL Program. As part of your membership in a
Region 16 Club you were automatically subscribed to
receive the NEWS FLASH E-MAIL.
The program that we use to distribute the NEWS FLASH
E-MAIL is equipped with a great set of stats. It
tells us, among other things, what mail was
delivered, what mail was opened, what mail was
bounced and what e-mail addresses are incorrect. The
stats on opening mail are very low. Although the
mail is confirmed as delivered, it is just not being
opened. One of the reasons may be that the mail is
being delivered to a bulk mail or spam area. Please
check your bulk mail and spam areas and do what is
necessary to deliver your Region 16 mail to your
inbox. The email is clearly marked from Region 16
with the title of - Region 16 News Flash.
